I was visiting Santorini and Fira in 2004,and fell completely in love with the place!!
in the middle of august I am bringing along my "husband to be"-to get there for our honeymoon.-were just going to by the plane-tickets,and are surely crossing fingers to find a nice place to stay for a fiew days, before going furder to any island nearby...cant make up my mind where to stay of fira,oia,firostefani and imerovigli...guess its all the same beauty..

Im letzten Herbst waren wir auf Santorini in Kamari für 14 Tage zu Gast und uns hast gut gefallen. Wir fliegen - sofern`s geht, zweimal pro Jahr in die Ferien und uns zieht`s immer mal wieder auf griechische Inseln. Griechenland hat sehr schöne Inseln und die Leute sind sehr hilfsbereit und nett.

Few places I have travelled rival the sheer beauty and cultural richness of Santorini . . . I will never forget the brilliant white-washed buildings perched atop the towering cliffs, all surrounded by stunning ocean-blue. Visiting Santorini was like stepping back in time; ancient Orthodox and Byzantine cathedrals, peasants riding donkeys down narrow cobblestone streets, old wineries contrast with busy markets and cafes; the island seduces you with its mix of natural beauty and old-world charm. Riding a motorbike is a great way to explore the island, and some of the views are absolutely breathtaking. The topography is really interesting and you discover quaint villages and beautiful beaches along the way. We would set out every morning after enjoying breakfast and warm hospitality courtesy of “Mama’s Restaurant,” in Fira. I still remember seeing the bright blue church domes from her patio as I looked out over the horizon.
On a lighter note, Mama also got a kick out of the fact that we were from Winnipeg, Canada – the home town of Nia Vardalos of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” fame. (Apparently, she had visited Mama’s Restaurant as well).
